Our Story
Ohoka Gold is created from a family passion, a passion for farming produce and to share this with our local community.
Located in Ohoka, North Canterbury, New Zealand, 26km north of Christchurch, the 2.5ha property has an olive grove of 350 trees. We have aimed to tend the grove using sustainable and organic philosophies to produce a quality olive oil for all.
A love for the land and the environment becomes obvious from the natural cultivation and care of the olive trees, to the careful picking of the fruit and the cold-press extraction of our unique olive oil.
As a family owned and operated boutique olive grove, we take great pride in every drop of olive oil harvested, pressed and then bottled on site.
Harvest
Every harvest season, around June, our olive grove resonates with love and laughter, as our family and friends, along with the little ones, harvest the year’s crop. The result of our labour is a high- quality extra virgin olive oil produced from the first cold press of a blend of Tuscan cultivars.
Location
Stoney and free draining soil is ideal for olive trees and roots that need a dry soil.
The North Canterbury regional climate is similar to the Tuscany region which produces rich and complex olive oil.
